FDA Clears At-Home HPV Screening Tool

The FDA has approved the Onclarity HPV self-collection kit and the BD Onclarity HPV Assay for at-home cervical cancer screening, enhancing accessibility. This initiative addresses the issue of unscreened patients, as about 60% of cervical cancer cases occur among those not following screening guidelines. The self-collection kit enables individuals to send samples for testing of high-risk HPV types, facilitating earlier identification and timely care management. Insurance coverage is expected, with the kit available by prescription soon.
