Halo Scalp Ring Linked to Scarring Alopecia

A case report highlights halo scalp ring, a birth-related pressure injury that can, in severe cases, lead to permanent scarring alopecia. A 12-year-old girl experienced hair loss from birth, attributed to sustained pressure during labor. The condition, characterized by a semi-annular band of cicatricial alopecia, typically presents within the first year of life and may often resolve without treatment. Risk factors include primigravida status and prolonged labor. While usually benign, awareness is essential to avoid unnecessary interventions.
